The two major presidential candidates, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and Alh. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP were absent from the Presidential Debate held yesterday.
The electorate, however said the reason given by Alh. Atiku Abubakar was not genuine. "We note the statement of the candidate of the PDP, Alh. Atiku Abubakar who actually came for the event and left the venue when he did not see Mr President. According to him, he would not want to "attack" Mr President in his absence.
However, the busy and hectic official and campaign schedules of Mr President clashed with the programme. Mr President, yesterday commissioned the Bano Inland Water Port in Niger State and campaigned in Niger and Plateau State. He returned very late and so couldn't attend the Presidential Debate.
