One year ago, the world discovered Hua Hua and Zhong Zhong, the first cloned primates through a procedure that could produce a large number of replicas.
Presently, a team of Chinese Scientists has used this same technique to create five clones of another monkey.
The technique used in cloning the monkeys is known as Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer, and it entails replacing the nucleus of a donor egg with one taken from the cell of another animal.
According to the researchers' report, both published in the Journal National Science Review, the technique was good. Although the five newborn monkeys displayed a variety of circadian disorder phenotype, which include sleeplessness, increased movement at night, schizophrenia-like behaviors, and signs of anxiety and depression.
