Brigadier General Buba Marwa, the Chairman, Presidential Advisory council for the Elimination of Drug says that Nigeria need to channel its education system to allow more children into schools as a method of reducing drug abuse in the our nation.
Marwa reported that when they visited Malam Nigger Rehabilitation Center at Rigasa in Kaduna, a drug rehab center, noted that most people were into drug abuse because of unemployment and lack of education.
In addition, he said, “Poverty, unemployment in addition to lack of insufficient opportunities to progress in life has turned numerous of our active youths to go into drugs; the situation is extremely alarming.”
He said the nation must sponsor more than fourteen million children in the street to get back to school and provide efficient supervision to ensure they get the best education.
Besides, Marwa said his committee had documented their findings in the country and hope that President Muhammadu Buhari would completely enforced the recommendations.
Malam Lawal Maduru, founder of the rehabilitation center, was grateful to Marwa for the visit, emphasizing that it would encourage them to work hard towards preventing drug abuse.
