The nurse, Elizabeth Bwalya Mwewa, who is currently suffering from cancer made this confession on her sick bed.
The nurse said on Monday: “May God Forgive me with regard to my sins.”
She added: “I usually exchange babies at UTH for fun."
Again, she said "I have terminal cancer and I know I will be dying very soon. I wish to confess my sins before God and before all the individuals especially all those who were giving birth at UTH during my service. I have discovered God. I am now born again. I actually have nothing to conceal, in the 12 years I worked in the maternity ward at UTH, I swapped close to five thousand babies.
“If you were given birth to in UTH between the years 1983 to 1995 probabilities are your parents might not be your biological parents. I have developed an attitude of swapping newly born babies simply for fun. Therefore take a good look at your siblings, if for example everyone is light and you are dark… you are that child and I am really sorry for that.
“I know I have sinned against God and let him have mercy on me regarding that. I am likewise asking Zambians to forgive me for all the evil things I have done to the innocent children.
“I have caused some faithful couples to divorce after carrying out a DNA Tests. But I now realize that I was just used by a demon to do that. I have caused many mothers to breastfeed children who are not theirs biologically.
“I don’t want to go to Hell for that, I’m really sorry I have sinned a lot. Please have mercy on me.”
