Saudi Tanka Collide With Taiwan Navy Aircraft Carrier

Saudi tanka, NCC SAMA collided with Taiwanese Navy frigate NING YANG (FF - 938) on March 9 at about 0130LT on arrival to Keelung Port, Taiwan.

The Frigate encounter an upper deck breach. There is no information yet on tanker damages. In a statement, the Navy Commander said that the tanker will be detained after completing cargo operation,  and that they are going to get compensation from tanker owner.

Jeff Bezos Can Afford To Purchase 280,000 Homes In Austin

Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world can
afford to purchase an entire city. He was raised up in Texas and so he spent much of his childhood years there.

Presently, the Amazon CEO with billions of dollars can buy every home in the State capital, Austin, which would cost about $129.9 billion, according to real estate site, Redfin. That is approximately 280,000 single-family homes.

Redfin, in a statement, said the billionaire can also afford Washington D. C's 200,000 homes wish would cost up to $131.5 billion.

Bezos net worth isn't comprised of cash alone. His is currently worth $134.4 billion and would have to liquidate over 80 million shares of Amazon stock, which accounted for roughly 90 percent of his worth as of October, and he might have to sell off his multi-million dollar properties around the country.

The Pentagon Request For More Aircraft Carriers And Destroyers To Prevent Russian Aggression In Europe

The Pentagon's regional command for Europe has ordered for more aircraft carrier and destroyers in order to prevent Russia belligerence on the continent.

The US Army general, Curtis Scaparotti, the head of US European Command, on Tuesday, told a Senate committee that he needs two more destroyers to supplement the four that the navy already have in Rota,  Spain.

According to John Crady, USNI News reporter, the general said he also wants a "better pace" of carriers and amphibious ships deployed to European waters.

The extra ships would help prevent "an evolving and modernizing Russian fleet", Scaparrotti noted.

The Navy were able to provide the additional vessels. As at early 2019, the US fleet have 287 large warships. In December 2016, Ray Mabus said the fleet needed 355 ships in order to meet the demand from the regional commander.

The Science Behind Knitting

About 3000 years ago, knitting has been an ancient form of manufacturing, but Elisabetta Matsumoto of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta noted that knowing how stitch type govern shapes will be important for designing new "tunable" materials.

Matsumoto will be presenting her work on the mathematics rules that govern knitting at the American Physical Society March Meeting in Boston this week. She will also engage in a press conference to explain all that knitting entails.

"By picking a stitch, you are not only choosing the geometry but the elastic properties, and that means you can build in the right mechanical properties for anything from aerospace engineering to tissue scaffolding materials", said Matsumoto.

Matsumoto started knitting as a child and later got interested in mathematics and physics, so she developed a new idea for her occupation. "I realized that there is a lot of mathematics and material science that goes into textiles, but that is taken for granted", said Matsumoto.

Currently, members of the Matsumoto group are now delving through the complicated math which encodes mechanical properties within the interlocking series of slip knots of a material. Although the application of pure mathematical process of knot theory to huge catalog of knitting designs is a tricky process for Matsumoto's graduate student, Shashank Markande.

Besides, the Matsumoto group also focuses on simple stitch designs and curves in knitted lattices.

Alien Life Could Exist Arround Stars That Undergo Collision

Scientists new research shows that alien life could be found in solar systems where where two stars collide.

Presently, research is largely focused on planets and potential life around the stars that are similar to our own, since we have refused to accept that any other solar system that has aliens inside of it is likely to look like ours. In fact, none of those "solar twins" - stars that look like our own have actually be found to exist.

When the "solar twins" encounter a third star, a binary pair of stars might collide. That in turn could enlarge the habitable zone, making life more possible.

The habitable zone, which is sometimes called the Goldilocks Zone, is the distance from stars where the temperature is not too cold. These qualities are said to be vital for life, since water will be able to be found and the complex molecules that develop to become life can form.

In this kind of system, when the stars are distant apart, the Goldilocks Zone is set by the radiation coming out of the individual star. If the stars are close enough, the size of it increases, because the stars feel the warmth from each other and the planet is more likely to be in the right place, researchers Bethany Wootton and Richard Parker write.

Again,  Wooten in a statement, said "our model suggests that there are more binary systems where planets sit in Goldilocks Zones than we thought, increasing the prospects for life."

According to David Ham, a computational scientist at Imperial College in the UK, "computation fills in a gap between theory and experiment. A computation tells you what the consequences of your theory are, which facilitates experimentation and observation work, because you can tell what you are suppose to look for to judge whether your theory is valid."

Jeff Bezos Challenged Elon Musk Idea Of Settling On Mars

Jeff Bezos established the Blue Origin, a rocket company in order to reduce the cost of accessing space.

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon during a recent talk expaciated on his great vision of settling in space, but in doing so, he mocked the idea of his rival, the SpaceX founder, Elon Musk, of settling people in Mars.

In a statement, Bezos said "we have sent robotic probes now to every planet in this solar system, and this (earth) is the best one. My friend who want to move to Mars? I say do me a favour: Go live on the top of Mount Everest for a year first and see if you like it, because it is a garden paradise compared to Mars."

He made the statement at a private lecture directed by Jeff Foust, a senior staff writer at Space News. During the lecture, Bezos spoke about the goals of his rocket company, Blue Origin, and his vision of making space a place where people can live and work.
