The Most Tiniest Baby On Earth Leaves Tokyo Hospital

A baby boy who weighed just 268g at birth has been discharged from hospital in Japan. The baby was born through C-section in August and he is believed to be the tiniest baby boy on earth.

The baby boy was born at 24 weeks. He spent five months in the hospital and was nurtured in the intensive care unit.

His weight is now 3.2kg, and he is now feeding normally. He was released from the hospital last week, two months after his due date.

"I can only say I'm happy that he has grown this big because honestly, I never expected he would survive", said the baby's mother, according to Tokyo Keio University Hospital.

Doctor Takeshi Arimitsu, who treated the unique baby, said the baby was the smallest infant born to be taken out of the hospital in good health, according to a database of the world's tiniest babies held at the University of Iowa.

Besides, Doctor Takeshi said he wanted to show that there is a possibility that the tiniest babies will be able to leave the hospital in good health.

Quantum Camera Now Snaps Objects That Are Not Seen

A normal digital camera can take snaps of objects that are not visible to its lens, US researchers noted. The "ghost imaging" technique help satellites take snapshots through clouds or smoke.

Recently, Tanya Shih of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and colleagues at the US Army Research laboratory, also in Maryland, have been able to take first ghost images of an opaque object - a toy soldier.

Ghost imaging works a bit like taking a flash-lit photo of an object using a normal camera. Although the images are formed from photons that come out of the flash, and passes into the lens.

In Shih's experiments, a toy soldier was placed 45 centimeters away from a light source, which was split into two beams. One was pointed at the toy and the other at a digital camera. A photon detector was then placed close to the soldier which only takes record when the photon bounced off.

Photons from the light source constantly travel down both paths made by a splitter, either towards the soldier and the photon detector, or towards the camera.

When this takes place, there is a direct relationship between where one of the photons hit the soldier, and where the other one hits the camera's sensor, says Shih, due to a quantum effect called "two-photon interface."

Therefore, when the camera records only pixels from photons that hit the detector simultaneously, a "ghost image" of the objects is formed. The soldier's image appeared after about 1000 coincidental photons were recorded.

Divers Attempt To Regrow Great Barrier Reef Using Electricity

Divers attempt to develop new method to restore damaged coral on the Great Barrier Reef using electricity.

The reef has been disrupted in recent years by cyclones and back-to-back heatwaves.

However, Nathan Cook at conservation group Reef Ecologic and his colleagues are attempting to regrow surviving coral fragments on steel frames. The frames are placed on affected parts of the reef and stimulated with electricity to accelerate the coral's growth.

Electrified metal frames have formally been used to encourage coral growth on reefs in South-East Asia, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. They have been used to attract mineral deposits that aid corals growth 3 to 4 times faster than normal.

The technique is been used at a section of the reef 100 kilometers north of Cairns that was badly damaged by the 2016 and 2017 mass coral bleaching events.

Nathan Cook hopes that the new method of speeding up corals growth will help the reef withstand future bleaching events.

Scientists Synthesized A DNA-Like Molecular System To Search For Life On Other Worlds

In a research breakthrough by NASA,  scientists have created a DNA-like molecular system that can store and transmit information.

This unexceptional feat suggests there could be an alternative to DNA-based life on other worlds.

This new innovation suggests scientists searching for life beyond Earth may need to consider what they are looking for.

The DNA is a complex molecule of the deoxyribonucleic acids that stores and transmit genetic information, and it consists of four different chemical groups known as nucleotides.

"Life detection is an increasingly important goal of NASA's planetary science missions, and this new work will help us to develop effective instruments and experiments that will expand the scope of what we look for," said Lori Glaze, acting director of NASA's Planetary Science Division.

Presently, a team of researchers, led by Steven Benner at the Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution in Alachua, Florida, created a new information molecular system that is like DNA, except in a particular area. The new molecule has eight different chemical groups instead of four.

The artificial DNA includes the four nucleotides present in Earth Life - adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine - but also other four that looks like the structure of the informational ingredients contained in regular DNA. The out-come is a double helix structure that can store and transmit information.

Benner's team, which collaborated with laboratories at the University of Texas in Austin, Indiana University Medical School in Indianapolis, and DNA software in Ann Arbor, Michigan, called the innovation "hachimoji DNA (from the Japanese "hachi", meaning "eight", and "moji", meaning "letter").

The hachimoji DNA meets all the structural requirements that allow our DNA to store and transmit information in living systems.

"By carefully analysing the roles of shape, size and structure in hachimoji DNA, this work expands our understanding of the types of molecules that might store information in extraterrestrial life on alien worlds", said Benner.

The major goal of NASA is to search for life on other planets like Mars, where there was once flowing water and a thick atmosphere, or moons of the outer solar system like Europa and Enceladus, where large water oceans exist under thick layers of ice.

Mysterious Moon Around Neptune

After several years of analysis, a group of planetary scientists using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has discovered the mysteries behind the moon around the Neptune. Astronomers called it "the moon that shouldn't be there."

The moon is  very tiny and it is called Hippocamp. It is close to a much larger neptunian moon called Proteus. Actually, a moon like Proteus should have gravitationally swept aside or swallowed the smaller moon while paving way for its orbital path.

The  Hippocamp is likely a cut-off piece of the larger moon that is caused by collision with a comet billions of years ago.

Mark Showalter of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California said, "the first thing we realized was that you wouldn't expect to find such a tiny moon right next to Neptune's biggest moon. In the distance past, given slow migration outward of the larger moon, Proteus was once were Hippocamp is now."

"Based on estimates of comet populations, we we know that other moons in the outer solar system have been split by comets, smashed apart, and re-accreted multiple times," said Jack Lissauer of NASA's Ames research Center in California's Silicon Valley, a Coauthor on the new research. This pair of satellites provides a dramatic illustration that moons are often split apart by comets.

Rotten Tomatoes Causes Cancer, Says NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Friday warned Nigerians to avoid the consumption of rotten tomatoes in order to control cancer and its related causes.

The Deputy Director of the Agency, Mrs. Christiana Essenwa, in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Onitsha, gave the warning.

She said that rotten tomatoes contain micro organisms that could cause cancer. According to her, "once tomatoes become rotten, it will have micro organisms, especially fungi and the fungi in rotten tomatoes give rise to mycotoxins, which are deadly and could induce cancer, and reduce the immune system in both man and animals."

Besides, she said that research shows that mycotoxins could also cause kidney disease. She further encouraged individuals that assume that rotten tomatoes can be consumed after washing and heating to abandon their assumption "because mycotoxins are heat-resistant."

She then advised consumers to stop buying rotten tomatoes that are often sold at cheaper rate in the market, saying, "it is far better to spend such money to prolong life than to use such money to purchase death."

Unique Two-headed Baby Born In Yemen

The unique conjoined twins, Abdul-Khaliq and Abdul-Rahim were born in Al-Thawra hospital on Sunday night. The twins are joined at the neck and share a torso, but also have a condition known as Parapagus Dicephalus, that is, they share a body but have their own heads, lungs, hearts, stomachs and backbones.

The extremely rare condition has a low survival rate, and requires treatment abroad to separate them. But Akram Ali Ahmed, age 20, the father of the two-headed baby said he wants them to remain conjoined. He believed that his newborn sons will survive if they remain conjoined, although the doctor have warned that partial twinned babies rarely survive such condition.

Currently, the twins are laid in an incubator awaiting funding, and a decision based on their survival.

Doctors says Yemen lacks good medical facilities especially due to the ongoing war, and predicts that their health will naturally decline if they are not taken out of Yemen for adequate treatment and care.

Okada Riders In Lagos Metropolis Go Digital

The Okada riders in Lagos have completely gone digital. The commercial motorcycle riders renders their services in minutes at any where in the Lagos metropolis by simply working an app on your mobile phone.

The innovation, however is a step ahead of automobile taxi services as residents of the metropolis work for ways to avoid traffic problems in order to arrive at their destination early.

In the Lagos metropolis, the traffic congestion has been known for decades, with road users getting stuck in traffic for several hours. But the situation is worse than ever as the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has commenced many road construction projects.

Consequently, in 2017, two young entrepreneurs, Chinedu Azodoh and Adetayo Bamiduw, engage in the Okada business. In June, they bought the MaxGo, using the 200cc motorcycle, which they believe can move freely on Lagos road.

Again, with online marketing onboard, and borrowing from the Ulber and Taxify initiative, they created an app that transform the business from an ordinary street run to online orders.

Artificial Intelligence Sensors Are Now Used To Warn Partners In Argumentative Mood

In modern days technology, scientists have been able to innovate Artificial intelligence sensors that monitors a person's vital signs, like heart rate, sweat levels and changes in volume of voice.

Couple that quarrels or argue a lot are sent text messages through a smart phone before time to help them avoid the situation.

For instance, A wife on her way home could receive an early warning concerning a husband who is in an aggressive mood at home or some other places.

Confirming the accuracy of the device, using 34 couples, the team discovered that the sensors were able to detect signs of conflicts with 79% accuracy, which later increased to 90%.

A Computer scientist at Texas, A&M University, Dr Theodora Chaspari, who is among the team developing the system, said it could be useful for a couple that quarrels a lot as it could help them avoid the quarrel or dispute.

In addition, Dr Chaspari said, "We would like to be able to eventually provide 'in the moment' interventions in real life that could potentially prevent or easier solve the argument."

Obstacles Are Inevitable

Know that God can,  he does not shy away from His responsibilities. Keep moving inspite of the obstacles before you, and rely on God who is the author and finisher of our faith. For a life without Christ is a life of crises.

And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.

And very early on the first day of the week they went to the tomb when the sun had risen.

And they were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?"

And looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back- it was very large.

Your Thoughts Dictates Who You Are

Your negative inward conversation can unsettle you. It feeds you with inferiority complex and distrust, and until you change your internal conversation, you cannot change your outlook.

However, positive internal conversation reduces your level of stress and anxiety. Being able to make a switch between positive and negative conversation is the thin line between success and failure. You are what you say you are internally, for as a man thinketh so he is.
